Remove from and import into project explorer in eclipse

Eclipse’s project explorer can get cluttered up over time, often you need to remove projects without deleting its contents, here is how to do it:

  • Right click on you project and select delete:

  • Click ok on the “Delete Resources” window. (Note the “delete project contents …” option.)

If later you want to bring back that old project back into the explorer, follow these steps:

  • Important note: never close your project, closing a project will render it impossible to import it back once it’s deleted.

  • File — import — existing projects into workspace — select root directory of your project — click finish

  • If this project is already in the workspace (but deleted from project explorer), then make sure the “copy project into workspace” option is not checked.
